Here in the Ruhr area we are not really close to any ocean. The sea is 250 km away and the lakes are often gravel lakes or artificial reservoirs. Nevertheless the Ruhr area is well positioned for the shipping industry and also provides Europe’s biggest inland port in Duisburg. As my present outfit somehow reminds me of a sailor I searched for some maritime flair and made a find in Duisburg. In the inner harbour there’s an old loading crane that provided the perfect setting. Ahoy!
Veste as key-piece
I built this outfit around my new vest from Dornschild*. Vests are becoming more and more trendy and can be found in many casual looks. Therein they are best combined with shirts and casual pants – thus they appear smart and cool. The chic dark blue woolen vest by the German label Dornschild convinces through its high-quality workmanship and the attention to detail. The two button rows and the big lapel clearly focus on the gentleman trend which is realised here in a modern way.
As always it comes down to the right combination. To style the elegant vest in a casual way I combine it with a striped shirt. The red-blue stripes of the G-Star shirt remind me of maritime outfits and they match the woolen material of the vest perfectly. Also my pants are colour matched. The nonchalant pleat-front trousers by the Danish label Samsøe & Samsøe have pant cuffs that give them a sporty touch. My outfit is rounded off by colour matched sneakers by adidas. Chic and casual – that’s my look with vest.
